ABOUT ME
My Story
If I had to describe myself in a few words, I'd say I'm caring, outgoing, and someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with others. I love meeting new people, building meaningful relationships, and finding ways to make a positive impact, whether it's through school, work, or everyday life.
I'm currently in my first year of the Child and Youth Care program at Centennial College. As I begin this journey, I'm excited to continue learning, developing new skills, and gaining the knowledge and experience needed to support children, youth, and families.
Outside of school, I'm a proud mom to my 3-year-old daughter, Maddy, who is my biggest inspiration. Spending time with her, along with my family and friends, is what I value most. I also enjoy listening to music, travelling, shopping, and spending sunny days at the lake. These moments help me recharge and remind me how important balance, connection, and self-care are—both personally and professionally.
Every experience, whether it's through school, work, or everyday life, helps shape who I am and the practitioner I'm becoming. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow, challenging myself, and building a career where I can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, youth, and families.
My Philosophy
I believe that every child and youth deserves to feel safe, valued, and heard. Building strong, trusting relationships is at the heart of Child and Youth Care, and I believe that taking the time to understand each person's unique experiences, strengths, and challenges is essential. My goal is to create a supportive environment where children and youth feel respected, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.
I also believe that every child has their own strengths and abilities. Rather than focusing only on challenges, I believe it's important to recognize what they can do and build on those strengths to help them grow. As a future Child and Youth Care practitioner, I hope to create positive relationships based on empathy, respect, patience, and consistency while continuing to learn and grow throughout my career.
Why I chose Child and Youth Care
I've always had a passion for helping children, especially those who are going through difficult situations. From a young age, I knew I wanted a career where I could make a real difference in someone's life. The idea of being someone a child can trust, support, and turn to during challenging times is something that's always been important to me.
What drew me to Child and Youth Care is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and help children and youth recognize their strengths, overcome obstacles, and reach their full potential. I believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued, and I want to be someone who can make a positive impact during some of the most important moments in their lives.
For me, Child and Youth Care is more than just a career—it's a chance to do something I'm genuinely passionate about every day. Knowing that I can support, encourage, and advocate for children and youth is what motivates me and confirms that this is the path I want to follow.
