Cover Letter

To Whom It May Concern,

Thank you for taking the time to check out my ePortfolio!

I'm currently in my first year of the Child and Youth Care program at Centennial College, and I'm excited to start my career working with children, youth, and families. I'm passionate about helping young people through difficult times and supporting them as they build confidence, healthy coping skills, and positive relationships.

Before starting this program, I worked in a leadership role where I learned how to communicate with different people, stay calm in stressful situations, and support others when they needed it most. Throughout my time in the Child and Youth Care program, I've also learned about crisis intervention, behaviour

management, and the importance of creating safe, supportive environments.

One of the biggest things I've learned is how important it is to meet children and youth where they're at and make sure they feel respected, valued, and heard.

I'm especially interested in working in residential settings, like group homes, because I enjoy building meaningful relationships with children and youth who may not always have the support they need. My goal is to be someone they can trust and feel comfortable talking to while helping them work through challenges and celebrate their successes.

Thanks again for taking the time to learn a little about me. I hope my portfolio gives you a better idea of who I am, what I've learned, and the kind of Child and Youth Care Practitioner I hope to become. I look forward to the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and making a positive impact wherever my career takes me.

Sincerely,

Kourtney Wammes
